Gathered thoughts

Some thoughts on starting over…

The saying goes that getting thrown in the deep end is the best way to learn to swim, but they don’t say much about sinking first.

And that’s exactly what the last year and a bit has felt like for me. Sinking, swimming, treading water all at once while simply just trying to stay afloat. I have also managed to find and foster a community that has helped me stay afloat through this new creative season. This community is made up of wonderful creative minds who have shared learnings, shared support, wisdom and most of all have shared courage and belief in my own creativity. This community of support has come from people I have never even met, friendships that have purely been fostered through DM’s and brands who have reached out for work through a friend of a friend or a kind word shared. But it has also allowed me the space to understand my own anxiety and self-doubt, and as it turns out most creatives are in exactly the same boat. Just trying to figure out what comes next all the while enjoying the process and finding fulfilment through creation.

I have created this space to share, to explore, and to create. So I guess all that I really wanted to say is don’t be afraid to embrace the change, embrace the hard days and carry yourself through them because a friend of mine once said on one of my toughest days that the best is yet to come…

I think she could have been right.
